Renna's Primavera were down a goal and needing at least an equalizer, so he tried to make impact subs. And he did, just not the impact he would have wanted. After conceding the goal in the first half, Leonardo Colombo was one of his subs in the 65th minute. Less than 10 minutes later, he was shown a yellow card. and ten minutes after that, he was shown a second yellow card for fouling a Verona player from behind, so was sent off, leaving Milan on ten men, and significantly reducing their chances of changing the scoreline in their favor. Verona capitalized on that, scoring a late goal and defeating Milan Primavera 2-0 in their house. This is, unfortunately, what you call a sudden impact.

While poor Leonardo Colombo had what Maignan once designated as a "bad day at the office," those are the matches that unfortunately help young players learn. And to be fair, the entire Primavera team would probably prefer to forget this result, not only for one player being sent off, but for a couple of other costly errors as well, despite having some excellent moments as well. While they have been playing well enough, with 2 wins and a draw before this match, these are the kinds of games that help fuel even better performances from every single player in the future.

Cullotta, fresh off of scoring his first Primavera goal last week, had one of the best attempts of the first half, when his header went just over the bar, bouncing on top of the net. The Verona goal at the end of the first half was the result of one bad defensive error that left Pantelin, who was just signed from Serbia this year and was making his debut as Milan's goalkeeper, 1v1 with Gardin, and the Verona player won that 1v1 to make it a 1-0 scoreline at halftime.
Renna made a sub at halftime, trying to make an impact from the 46th minute, bringing on Zanaga to replace Grassini. Both sides struggled to create chances, then in the 64th minute, Milan Primavera had two more substitutions: Dotta replaced Maiga-Hamadoun Ciissè, then the ill-fated Leonardo Colombo replaced Zaramella. Dotta had an impact, creating a chance from distance right away, then two more subs came on: Vincent Ibrahimović replaced Geroli, and Calvani replaced Tartaglia. Leonardo Colombo earned his first yellow in the 74th.
Pantelin made an impressive double save in the 80th minute. Meanwhile, Cullotta challenged Verona's goalkeeper at the other end. Then came poor Leonardo Colombo's fateful second yellow foul and sending off. Verona took advantage of the man advantage and Michele De Rossi scored their second goal in the 89th minute, when Pantelin dove to make one save, and the Verona player quickly sent it into the net. 2-0 Verona. Was this match indicative of the inconsistent form last year's Primavera suffered from? Or was this just one poor match? Only time will tell. Milan Primavera host Roma Primavera on Sunday.
